Book Discussions held every other month
Saramaria Allenby our member in discernment will lead a series on spirituality based on Joyce Rupp's book: The Cup of Our Life on Monday's January 22,29, February 5 and 12 at 6:30 p.m. Books will be available for sale for $14 at coffee hour January 7 & 14 or in the office. Please join us if you can and email Saramaria at Sallenby48@gmail.com or sign up on the sheet located outside of the office so we can have an idea of number attending.
The book is organized on a daily basis, it encourages the reader to use an ordinary cup (or mug) to invite God more closely into one's pain, suffering, joys, hopes and struggles. She explores six major themes in the spiritual life, each one followed by prayer suggestions including litanies , creative writing, ideas for reflection and journal-keeping, and a celebratory ritual. Throughout the book, she manifests a profound trust in the transformative power of the in-dwelling God, and in the daily-ness of God's presence with all those who seek with a genuine heart.

Did you know that this November, the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation was observed? If you are wondering who Martin Luther was and how he is a part of our history, come on Wednesdays in January to delve deeper. The class will use The Still Speaking Writers Group Study guide. It will be available after Christmas. Pastor Nancy and Lisa Allen will share leadership of the group.

"Listening For God" in Film Tri-Church Film Series
In an effort to share fellowship and faithful conversation, the three UCC Churches of Falmouth will join together for a film series in February and April of this year. Each Sunday when we gather to see the film, enjoy a light supper, and engage in meaningful dialogue with our UCC brothers and sisters! All are welcome.

"Dead Man Walking"
As death row inmate Matthew Poncelet (Sean Penn) nears his execution date, he calls upon sister Helen Prejean (Susan Sarandon) to help him with one last appeal, maintaining that his is innocent of the murders of a young couple. Poncelet begins to form a bond with Prejean, and she visits both his family and the relatives of the victims, hoping to learn more about the case. As things begin to look bleak for Poncelet, Prejean does all she can to comfort and console the hardened convict.

"Under the Same Moon"
Under the Same Moon is a story of perseverance. It tells the story of a mother (Kate Castillo) who emigrates illegally to the USA and Carlitos (Eugenio Derbez), her 9 year old son, who lives in Mexico waiting for her to earn enough money to send for him. Unexpected events lead the child alone seeking out his mother in a country foreign to him. the film highlights the bond between mother and child and the perseverance it takes to be together against all odds.
